Chief Ben Fleagle

Chief Ben Fleagle began his career at University Fire Department (Alaska) in November of 2001. He is currently assigned to A Platoon and maintains a State of Alaska EMT III Certification. Since his hire, he has specialized in training recruit firefighters, developing junior leaders, fire tactics, and teaching fire science topics at CTC from 1997-2014. He also joined a privately owned technical rescue team out of Fairbanks in 1997. He continued with the rescue company until they relocated in 2007.

Ben's college education began while serving in the U.S. Marines in 1986. In 2008, he completed his Associates in Municipal Fire Control at UAF-TVC (CTC). From 2013-2018, he returned to UAF and graduated in the Spring of 2018 with a Bachelor Degree in History. Some more accomplishments under his belt include Fire Service Leadership courses at the National Fire Academy and the Company Officer and Chief Officer Development Programs of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He is aiming to complete the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland in the near future.
