FORCIBLE ENTRY ACADEMY3 DAYS FOR THEMPresented by Brothers in Battle, LLC
This 3-day Forcible Entry Academy takes firefighters through a full progression of training, starting with the fundamentals of the Fireground Basic Irons, where students build strong habits with traditional hand tools learning to dress and set up tools, size up and defeat forcible entry challenges, control doors, communicate effectively, and perform standardized techniques both solo and as a team. Day two expands into Advanced Irons & Saws, adding new tools and challenges with a comprehensive saw operations module, followed by hands-on residential and commercial scenarios that require coordinated Irons and Saw work. The program culminates with Refined by Fire: Forcible Entry where firefighters refine their skills under live fire, heat, and smoke conditions - performing forcible entry and rescues in environments that demand speed, precision, and accountability. Together, these three days test, sharpen, and prepare firefighters to operate with confidence and competence when the stakes are highest: mask up quickly, make the force, make the grab - NO excuses. This is an intensive program requiring real and exhaustive work through long days, continuous reps, and pushing boundaries.
For over a decade, this class has put fireground-proven forcible entry techniques in the hands of thousands of firefighters across the country and internationally. A lot can be accomplished on the fireground with only hand tools, and this course is designed to help students develop the skills and habits necessary to master the craft of forcible entry with our most traditional, tried-and-true tools of the trade.Upon completion, firefighters will be able to properly dress and set up their tools, perform rapid size-ups to identify and defeat multiple forcible entry challenges, control the door, enhance communication with effective commands, develop striking accuracy, and apply standardized techniques whether working alone or as part of a team. When seconds count, consistent training and communication allow crews to predict each other’s actions and operate effectively under stress.
Building on the foundation established in Fireground Irons, this class adds new challenges and tools to expand students’ capabilities. The course begins with a hands-on review of conventional inward and outward opening door techniques, then moves into a comprehensive forcible entry saw overview covering safe starting and handling, daily and weekly checks, blade changes, inboard vs. outboard mounting, and troubleshooting flooded saws. From there, firefighters will rotate through skill stations that simulate both residential and commercial forcible entry challenges requiring coordinated Irons and Saw work. Together with Fireground Irons, this class establishes a solid foundation for most forcible entry scenarios encountered on the fireground.
The final step in this progression is about refining forcible entry skills and putting them to the test under live fire, heat, and smoke conditions. Students will perform forcible entry work and make GRABS in realistic, high-stress environments that demand speed, precision, and accountability. These conditions test, refine, and humble, even forcing an honest look at preparation, skill set, and readiness to perform under pressure. The expectations are clear and uncompromising: Mask up quickly. Make the force. Make the GRAB. No excuses.
No egos. Just firefighters who value humility, passion, high character, and lifelong learning. We pride ourselves in the men and women we've chosen to represent our mission.
We come from every rank and every corner of the fire service, from big city, suburban, and rural. Many of us started as volunteers in small, understaffed departments before moving into career roles. Our diverse backgrounds include military, construction, wildland, USAR, hazmat, heavy equipment, even athletes and musicians.
Everything we teach has been proven on the fireground. We don’t claim to know it all, but we share what works, what fails, and what we’ve learned along the way.
Students leave our classes with skills they can use the very next shift and the confidence to bring that knowledge back to the kitchen table, strengthening their crews and the fire service as a whole.
