10/25-26/24 0800-1800Mayday Mindset with Bonus Dennis LeGear Lecture

The Mayday Mindset lecture will be on 10/24/24
The Mayday Mindset presentation is entirely backed by decades of real-world experience and the most up-to-date firefighter survival and proactive RIT training models. This one-of-a-kind training program focuses entirely on providing today’s firefighters with the necessary tools to teach, learn, develop, and excel at any fire ground skill. Through the study of learning science, predictable human behavior patterns, fire service data, and scientific research, this class will provide the attendees with an unprecedented blueprint for success under stress.

Over the last decade, firefighter RIT and survival classes became increasingly linear and cookie-cutter in their approach to these nonlinear life-or-death events. This has created a dangerous standard of training firefighters to get out of trouble instead of adequately training them to stay out of trouble. The Mayday Mindset program focuses on the discontinuation of that adverse practice. In this class, Rob will highlight the many challenges these high-energy, low-frequency incidents present and provide a breakdown of how they will impact our tactical and strategic decision-making process. This discussion will encourage today’s firefighters to unfollow the established RIT training norms, edit their beliefs, and update their current systems. This progressive and success-based training model will ensure that every student in attendance understands how to properly prepare, command, deploy, and survive the modern fire ground mayday.

10/25-26/24 0800-1800Command School

Command School: A Workshop for Incident Commanders
Description:
Commanding a scene confidently is a crucial skill for fire service Incident Commanders. This workshop will equip current and future officers with the knowledge and techniques to lead emergency responses effectively. Participants will learn to assess scenes, communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and maintain scene flow. The workshop will include scenario-based simulations culminating in participants commanding a live scenario.

Workshop Objectives:
Identify key elements to assess when arriving at an emergency scene.
Develop effective communication strategies for commanding a scene.
Learn techniques for delegating tasks and managing resources efficiently.
Understand how to maintain scene flow and adapt to changing circumstances.
Recognize common pitfalls and statements to avoid for smooth scene management.

10/25-26/24 0800-1800Stretching and Operating the 1 3/4" and 2 1/2" hand lines with Bonus Dennis LeGear Lecture

10/24/24Keynote and Lecture

Keynote with Curt Isakson

10/25-26/24Dennis LeGear Lecture

Hydrants to Nozzle
The attendee will get a rapid and clear understanding of these three critical areas of fire stream development: volume, Placement, and Velocity, as well as how these factors impact functional suppression. Often, placement of water can trump GPM, for example.

In addition, it is important to have tactically redundant flows in place. Once a fire passes the moderate-sized compartment volume, safety (arresting rapid fire development) cannot be assured via stream volume alone during interior operations.
