2 1⁄2-Day Hands-On Rescue Operations Course

This intensive course combines one-half day of lecture with two full days of hands-on training and scenario-based operations. The program focuses on the unique challenges faced by initial-arriving companies, special service companies, and heavy rescue personnel during vehicle-versus-building and structural collapse incidents.

Students will examine tactical priorities, command decision-making, resource allocation, and rescue operations while working with local and regional tool caches and equipment commonly found on collapse rescue incidents.

A dedicated tool and equipment lab will introduce students to multiple styles and types of rescue struts, stabilization systems, extrication equipment, lifting equipment, and associated tools. Students will then rotate through multiple skill stations before progressing into full-scale, scenario-based rescue operations.

All hands-on skills and scenarios will utilize real vehicles and a large acquired structure, providing students with realistic working conditions and the opportunity to apply rescue techniques in an environment that closely replicates an actual collapse incident.
This isn’t a classroom-only collapse course. Students will build, stabilize, lift, shore, extricate, search, and operate. The goal is to develop the decision-making and hands-on skills necessary to safely operate when a vehicle, building, and trapped occupants are all part of the same problem.

Julio Ramos Lieutenant

Julio Ramos is a 19 year student of the trade, currently working as a Lieutenant on a Squad Company in Central Florida. He is also a part of Florida Task Force 4 and also runs the local college FLUSAR and HazMat classes. Julio also owns Fireground & Special Operations Concepts LLC, where the concept of “Destiny Favors The Prepared” came from.

Stephen Eller Firefighter

Stephen Eller is a firefighter with the Anderson Fire Department in the Upstate of South Carolina, where he is currently assigned to the departments ladder company. He has 16 years of experience in the fire service and has spent much of his career focused on truck company operations and technical rescue.

Eller serves as a Rescue Specialist with South Carolina USAR Task Force 1, a Rescue Manager for the Anderson Technical Rescue Team, where he oversees training and operational readiness across the disciplines of rope rescue, structural collapse, trench rescue, and confined space rescue.

In addition to his operational roles, Eller is an adjunct instructor with the South Carolina Fire Academy, an instructor with Soda City Fire Training based out of Columbia South Carolina, and an instructor with Fireground & Special Operations Concepts based out of Florida. His instructional areas include truck company operations, vertical ventilation, saw maintenance, rope rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, and structural shoring.

Full structural bunker gear or full technical rescue suit (pants/jacket), helmet, boots, gloves, eye and ear protection.
